Jesus fulfilled many Old Testament prophecies. Now, having read through the Old Testament, we see just how present Jesus was throughout history, even before he arrived in the flesh. But if there’s still any doubt, we kick off our New Testament section of the E100 reading plan with John 1:1, confirming that Jesus, in fact was and is a part of the eternal Godhead.

The books of first and second Samuel introduce us to the first two human kings of the Nation of Israel in the persons of Saul and David. It’s a powerful story of quickly we can lose sight of what God desires for us when we insist that our ways are better than God’s. We also see the stark contrast in the character of these two kings, and how it impacts their failure, and success.

Today we return to the book of Joshua as part of the E100 series, and we revisit the issues that arise while the Israelites are taking the promised land. There’s discussion of Holy war and what it means, and how it played a role in the book of Joshua. We also have some challenging discussion about the Holiness of God and how it’s not always easy to understand God’s decisions, but how we’re still to trust that God sees the bigger picture.
